    You got it all wrong here, Jerm. The scenario you’re depicting is that of a typical 419 scam, not phishing. The latter occurs when you INADVERTENTLY give out your personal or financial details to crooks, for example by clicking a link purporting to be from your bank.

    So in phishing you unknowingly give out your details to a stranger, this usually due to sheer carelessness. In your depicted scenario the “victim” hands out their details (or assets?) to a complete stranger, usually out of greed or complete idiocy.
