China Telecom Global (CTG), a subsidiary of China Telecom, one of world’s largest telecommunications operators, will establish two network points of presence (PoPs) in South Africa, one in Cape Town and the other in Johannesburg, after signing a wide-ranging deal with Liquid Telecom.

The government-owned CTG and the privately owned Liquid on Thursday said they have signed an agreement to collaborate across Africa and Asia.

The agreement will allow both companies to serve their respective enterprise and wholesale customers with extended network coverage, they said in a joint statement.

CTG has already established a PoP at Liquid Telecom’s East Africa Data Centre in Nairobi, and will establish further PoPs at its data centre facilities in Johannesburg and Cape Town. CTG and Liquid Telecom will also continue to explore joint service opportunities under the partnership, they said.

“This partnership with China Telecom Global reflects the strong global demand for world-class network services across Africa. Our combined service and network capabilities will be of great value to multinationals operating in some of the fastest growing economies across Africa and Asia-Pacific,” said Willem Marais, group chief business development officer at Liquid Telecom, in the statement.  — (c) 2018 NewsCentral Media
