William Mzimba, the former CEO and chairman of Accenture Africa, has been appointed as chief officer of Vodacom Group’s enterprise business, replacing Vuyani Jarana, who resigned in October 2017 to take the reins at troubled state-owned airline South African Airways.
Mzimba, who was appointed as CEO of Accenture South Africa in September 2006, takes on the role of chief officer for Vodacom Business effective 1 May 2018. He worked at Accenture for 18 years, and most recently served as financial services industry leader for the consulting company.
His career, which spans almost a quarter of a century, has seen him work in various sectors, including government, utilities, manufacturing, IT and telecommunications, according to his LinkedIn profile.
His strengths are in entrepreneurship, stakeholder management, implementation of business strategies, sales, business development and corporate governance, the profile says.
At Vodacom, Mzimba will be responsible for the mobile group’s enterprise units across Africa. He will report directly to Vodacom Group CEO Shameel Joosub and will serve on both the group executive committee and the board of Vodacom South Africa.
Mzimba has an MBA, BA (honours) in business studies, a Management Advancement Programme qualitifcation and a diploma in datametrics. — © 2018 NewsCentral Media
