In the latest episode of the TechCentral podcast, Duncan McLeod chats to a pioneer of the PC industry in South Africa, Mustek founder and CEO David Kan, about 30 years in business.

The Taiwan-born Kan relates the story of why he relocated to South Africa after university in the US, how and why he started Mustek, and how he got an early lead on big international PC brands at the time such as IBM and Compaq.

Also in the podcast, Kan talks about listing on the JSE, building a local PC assembly plant and Mustek’s shift to being more of a distribution business. Finally, Kan provides his views on where the computer industry is going and the role he sees the company playing in it.
