The disciplinary hearing involving suspended Telkom chief financial officer, Jacques Schindehütte will resume on 6 August 2014. The company said in a statement that this follows a long adjournment agreed to by both parties.
Schindehütte was suspended last October. His suspension came after allegations of “personal misconduct” were levelled against him by a whistleblower.
Neither Telkom nor Schindehütte have disclosed the exact nature of the allegations, although the latter has consistently denied that there was any link between the suspension and a R6m company loan, which he used to purchase shares on 30 September last year.
“In the interest of ensuring a fair process, all parties to the confidential disciplinary hearing are constrained from discussing the matter outside the hearing itself or commenting on its content to third parties,” Telkom said. “This applies to responding to queries relating to matters that have been raised in, or are part of, the hearing.”
The operator said it would not comment on any details related to the matter until the outcome was decided.
Schindehütte told TechCentral at the time of his suspension that both the loan agreement and the subsequent purchase of R6m worth of Telkom shares had the approval of both Telkom chairman Jabu Mabuza and CEO Sipho Maseko.
Subsequently, Telkom said the board could not not and did not ratify the granting of the loan.
Telkom said it was committed to following the correct principles and processes to ensure that the hearing was conducted in a fair and dignified manner that met all legal and governance requirements.
