Survey: What concerns you most when it comes to cloud adoption?

Altron, in partnership with Amazon Web Services, is running a cloud survey to better understand the current cloud adoption strategies within South African organisations.

We value your input and invite you to take just a few minutes to be part of our research into organisations’ current cloud adoption trends to help us understand the needs of organisations when choosing and implementing effective cloud solutions.

Complete our survey, and you could be the lucky winner of a Takealot voucher valued at R2 000!

This study aims to take a closer look, among other things, at whether businesses have a cloud strategy in place and what is driving cloud adoption.

“The main objective of this cloud survey is to understand the advance of cloud adoption in South Africa,” says Danie van Graan, practice lead: cloud at Altron. “As a cloud solutions organisation, we want to determine what the business drivers are for cloud adoption.”

Van Graan says there will be challenges when it comes to migrating to cloud. “These challenges can be avoided if we plan accordingly and ensure that we implement the right architectures. It also depends on what cloud model/approach your organisation has chosen, and whether you have already adopted DevOps practices, which is a key enabler for successful transformation to cloud.”

    Performance, efficiency, reliability

A successful and seamless migration to cloud improves overall company performance. However, when asked about the downfalls of not having a cloud adoption strategy in place, Van Graan warns that should an organisation start migrating to cloud without considering the wider impact on their business, it could pose some challenges.

“Cloud is a new way of operating your business and a well-planned and proper cloud adoption strategy is a must.”

He advises that a business adopting cloud should start with a proper workload placement strategy to ensure the right workloads end up in the right architectures.

Looking for reliability, scalability and availability?

Moving from on-premises systems to a reliable cloud environment can prove to be a daunting and often costly initiative for any business.

To achieve cloud reliability, scalability and availability, and still maintaining cost efficiency, Van Graan says this requires careful planning and sound architecture principles.

He says most organisations are struggling with cloud adoption. However, the companies that have successfully adopted cloud must understand and learn how to operate in the new world.

Thank you for your input and we wish you luck in our lucky prize draw for a Takealot voucher valued at R2 000!
