[dropcap]I[/dropcap]t’s the Springboks like you’ve never seen them before. MultiChoice subsidiary SuperSport said on Wednesday that it will offer a virtual reality stream of this weekend’s clash with France at Growthpoint King’s Park in Durban.

The 360-degree views will be broadcast on SuperSport’s Facebook and YouTube pages and will feature action from inside the stadium in the build-up to the game, with a view of supporters and action from in the stands.

“YouTube will have an alternative stream to see more of the stadium from strategic points around the field,” SuperSport said in a statement.

“There will be pre- and post-match feeds as well as in-game footage,” said the company, which has the purchased rights to broadcast Springbok rugby on television in the region.

Any actual match footage will be geo-blocked to sub-Saharan Africa because of rights issues.

“With rapid advances in technology, this was an inevitable move. We hope this adds to the richness of the traditional broadcast and look forward to seeing the results,” SuperSport CEO Gideon Khobane said in the statement. — (c) 2017 NewsCentral Media
