Evoke has debuted the final phase of the multiple developer system to its low-code Rapid App Development Platform.
Evoke is a low-code/no-code, digital transformative Rapid App Development Platform that provides for fast startup as well as unlimited customisation and growth potential to support the future of business. It allows businesses to design, develop and deploy adaptive business apps across multiple mobile and desktop devices using a company’s existing in-house skills and expertise, in a fraction of the time and cost of traditional methods. Evoke supports the creation of professional business apps by companies of all sizes and diverse app requirements, from start-ups to the largest multi-national.
Brought to local organisations by Axiz, South Africa’s leading ICT value-added distributor, the platform will support the employment and necessary management of a group of developers working on the same app at the same time.
This may take the form of an IT division with a number of developers, or a group of citizen developers from various departments, or as a combination of both. It is designed to maintain the integrity of the project by monitoring the development efforts of various developers, controlling the acceptance of these developments into base projects and maintaining version control of the project as a whole and that of the individual developer’s sub-projects.
The system is centred on a base version, which is controlled by a team leader. The team leader can then give access to the app to authorised developers via Work Item versions (a copy of the base version for each developer). The developers can work on their own sub-version, with full design/development capabilities, providing for the regenerating of the app design in to a working test app, in addition to full testing capabilities. When the developer is ready, the system provides for the submission of the sub-version, for subsequent review and incorporation into the base version by the team leader.
The team leader can decide on which aspects of the design should be “locked” in to the base version and sub-versions. For example, you may wish to maintain the fonts, colour scheme, security structures and so on, without change. These items can be “locked” so that it will not be possible for a developer to change them at any time, although no other aspect of development would be restricted. If these items are changed in the base version, they can always be re-synced back into the Work Item versions directly through the system at any time.
Version control at multiple levels is maintained along with version “snapshots” taken automatically for easy reversion to a previous app version. Evoke also provides for full audit logging and display of all updates made. Making optimum use of the cloud in the app design process also means that personnel and management from different divisions and locations within a company can share designs and test apps so that a truly iterative approach can be employed in the progression of the app design and development.
Malcolm Carroll, director of BlueFinity, says: “Our client base comprises companies of all sizes, including those with one or two individuals developing their apps, as well as companies with larger development groups where the developers are able to work simultaneously on their app. This latest release of Evoke is entirely consistent with the design of this advanced development platform and its adaptability to work in companies from the smallest through to the very largest.”
Rezelde Botha, business development manager from Axiz, says she sees tremendous potential for growth in South Africa’s app economy. “We are excited about the development of this platform. Evoke helps businesses become more dynamic and able to respond more easily to customer changes by enabling the rapid development and deployment of mobile, desktop and Web, hybrid and native apps. This allows users to extend their enterprise applications to customers, employees and partners in a fraction of the time and cost offered by traditional methods.”
