More load shedding highly likely: Eskom

    Eskom-640-2

The national power grid would remain tight on Thursday, Eskom said.

“Tonight we are expecting the same as last night … a tight balance, a very low reserve margin,” spokesman Andrew Etzinger said.

“The balance between supply and demand will be challenged.”

He said deliberate power cuts were highly likely but not definite. This would depend on circumstances.

“Closer to the time we will know if we need to do load shedding.”

Constrained conditions were expected between 5.30pm and 6.30pm, after which demand dropped.

The power utility declared a power emergency on Wednesday night.  — Sapa
