Samsung’s tap-and-go payments platform, Samsung Pay, is now live in a trial phase for Standard Bank customers. This follows the soft-launch of the service earlier this month with Absa.
Standard Bank cards supported during early access are Mastercard credit and cheque cards, Samsung said in a statement on Friday.
Samsung users who bank will Standard Bank can try the payment service provided they have a Galaxy Note8, S9, S8, S7, A8, A5 or A7 (2017 edition) smartphone. To use Samsung Pay, consumer must download the app from the Google Play store.
More South African merchants and banks will be added in the coming months, the Korean consumer electronics giant said.
