    Datatec buys Netarx for $34m

Datatec subsidiary Logicalis has acquired Netarx, a supplier of Cisco products and services in the US mid-west, for a maximum consideration of US$34m, to be settled with cash and deferred Datatec shares.

Netarx, based in Detroit, has annual revenues of about $60m and has in the region of 220 employees. Datatec says there is little overlap between Logicalis’s existing customer base and Netarx’s offering in the Michigan area.

Datatec, which is listed on the JSE, says the deal will give Logicalis a “dominant position in the Michigan solutions market”. Group CEO Jens Montanana says that because Logacalis and Netarx are both Cisco gold partners, the deal will help “strengthen this strategically important relationship”.  — Staff reporter, TechCentral
