TechCentral is looking for a journalist. And not just any journalist.

We are on the hunt for someone who can not only accurately and fairly cover South Africa’s exciting technology sector but also help set the agenda for the industry.

You need to be passionate about technology. And having an opinion is essential — along with the ability to back it up.

TechCentral is respected as the home of South Africa’s best technology journalism and your work must serve to grow this reputation.

Your job will be wide ranging, from interviewing the CEOs of South Africa’s IT and telecommunications companies to reviewing the latest phones and tablets. You’ll interview and report on South African tech start-ups and write opinion pieces on crucial subjects.

You could be a recent graduate, or an experienced technology journalist, or someone still building their career. Wherever you find yourself, if this position sounds interesting, we want to hear from you.

We will provide a highly competitive package, commensurate with experience.

If you have an eye for the unusual and an idea of what appeals to online audiences, all the better.

Skills in website development are a distinct advantage, but are not mandatory for this position. It goes without saying that you must be able to write well and have a solid grounding in journalism. You will be based in Gauteng.

A healthy sense of rivalry is crucial, too, as we operate in a very competitive space.

Do you like the sound of this? Do you see the opportunity to make a name for yourself in South Africa’s technology industry?

The right candidate will effectively be handed an empty slate with which to develop their career.

If this appeals, do get in touch. E-mail info at techcentral (you can fill in the blanks).

Please tell us a bit about yourself in plain English and why you’d like to work here (in 500 words or less), along with three articles you are proud to have had published.

Please also include a basic CV and your contact details. We’ll take it from there.

All correspondence will, of course, be treated in the strictest confidence.
