Absa has warned its clients of downtime across its electronic channels this weekend as it upgrades its systems to “improve infrastructure stability”.
The systems are expected to go offline at 10pm on Saturday evening and return to service at 8am on Sunday morning, at which time it expects to have completed the necessary upgrades.
During the downtime, Absa customers will not be able to use its smartphone banking application, its mobile banking service or Internet banking, it said.
However, clients will be able to draw cash at ATMs, pay with their debit, cheque and credit card and visit its airport branches, which will remain open for business as normal (6am to 10pm at OR Tambo International in Johannesburg and 5am to 11pm at Cape Town International).
“We have suggested that our customers consider topping up their data, airtime and electricity, transferring money and paying bills prior to 10pm on Saturday,” the bank said in a statement.
“We have communicated this planned upgrade to our customers, and will keep them updated on absa.co.za, Twitter and Facebook.” — (c) 2016 NewsCentral Media
