After a short stint at Telkom, former Samsung South Africa MD Deon Liebenberg has been appointed managing executive for Vodafone Global Enterprise (VGE) and international business at Vodacom Business. Liebenberg takes up the new position on Friday.
Liebenberg also previously headed up the South African operations of Canadian company BlackBerry (formerly Research in Motion). He joined Telkom on 1 July 2012 as managing executive for Telkom Business Mobile.
“Deon has a wealth of industry experience including heading up the African operations of BlackBerry and the South African operations of Samsung Electronics,” Vodacom Business chief officer Vuyani Jarana says in a statement released on Wednesday.
In his new role, Liebenberg will be responsible for managing the VGE portfolio, which serves Vodafone’s largest multinational customers across all of Vodacom’s operations in sub-Saharan Africa.
Jarana says VGE is a “unique organisation dedicated to simplifying how global customers manage their communications … by providing managed communications with a mobility core”.
Liebenberg will also be responsible for driving the growth of Vodacom Business Africa. — (c) 2013 NewsCentral Media
