Privately held telecommunications company Otel has acquired fixed and wireless broadband Internet provider Jireh Technologies. It’s the first acquisition made by Otel.
In a statement, Otel, which focuses on the small, medium and micro enterprise market, said the deal will allow it to become a full-fledged ICT systems integrator.
The value of the acquisition has not been disclosed.
It supports Otel’s growth strategy and provides it with access to last-mile services, said CEO Rad Jankovic.
Jireh founding CEO Anthony Engelbrecht will become Otel chief technical officer, while simultaneously becoming an Otel shareholder.
Jireh’s “superior internal systems and processes and impressive core network performance are already paying dividends for the formerly sales-focused Otel”, the statement said.
The technical team Otel has taken on board from Jireh includes fibre and wireless installers, application and software developers, and an Internet service provider management system that will “add tremendous value to the Otel reseller channel once fully launched during 2017”.
“We continue to be on the look-out for acquisition and partnership opportunities … that will help Otel deliver value at either the infrastructure or services provision level,” said Jankovic. — © 2017 NewsCentral Media
