Telkom’s ICT services arm, Business Connexion, has been rebranded simply as BCX. The decision comes just months after Telkom said it would change the name of the company to Telkom Business Connexion.
BCX CEO Isaac Mophatlane said the decision was taken to avoid confusion in the marketplace.
Telkom will now have three distinct business units: Openserve (wholesale), Telkom (retail) and BCX (enterprise ICT services).
BCX also has a new logo, with a simply black and white design. Interestingly, the new design makes no reference to Telkom.
Explaining why there’s no mention of Telkom in the new branding, Mophatlane said Telkom CEO Sipho Maseko wants “distinct subsidiaries in the group”.
“People expected us to put blue in [the new logo] … [but] in the enterprise space, BCX is well established [as a brand].”
Telkom acquired Business Connexion in 2015 in a R2,7bn all-cash deal. It then merged its Telkom Business unit into the company to create an enlarged ICT group providing a wider range of services, from connectivity to traditional IT services.
At the same time, BCX will this year move into a new head office in Centurion, near Pretoria. For the past 25 years, the company has been based in Midrand (previously as Q Data, Comparex and PQ Africa).
The company has closed its office in Faerie Glen in Pretoria. The new building, which is located across the N1 highway from Telkom’s campus, is directly opposite the Centurion Mall. — (c) 2017 NewsCentral Media
