Cell C on Tuesday said it has appointed Douglas Craigie Stevenson as chief operating officer with immediate effect.
Craigie Stevenson joins Cell C from Telekom Networks Malawi, where he has served as CEO for the past two years.
He has worked in the telecommunications sector for the past 20 years, with previous jobs including various executive roles at Vodacom. He has worked in South Africa, Malawi, Tanzania and Mozambique.
“He is well versed in planning, execution and negotiation at various organisational levels, with a strong focus on strategic leadership,” Cell C said in a statement.
Craigie Stevenson has an MBA from the University of the Free State and a Bachelor of Accounting Science (honours) from Unisa.
He joins Cell C following its recent recapitalisation, under which the mobile operator’s debt has been reduced from R23bn to less than R6bn. JSE-listed Blue Label Telecoms and Net1 UEPS Technologies have together invested R7.5bn in the company. — (c) 2017 NewsCentral Media
