Five men have been arrested for allegedly robbing a cellphone store in Cape Town on Saturday, Western Cape police said.
“Flying Squad members patrolling in the City of Cape Town made a quick arrest after receiving information about a business robbery which took place in a cellphone store in Adderley Street,” said colonel Tembinkosi Kinana.
He said the group, aged between 21 to 37, had fled after the robbery but were found in Khayelitsha later on Saturday.
“Later in the day five male suspects were found at a house in Ilitha Park at Khayelitsha where they are alleged to have been busy counting cellphones and iPads they robbed from the shop.
“During the arrest, police confiscated about 86 new cellphones with iPads in possession of the suspects.”
“Police are investigating a case of business robbery and will also look at the possibility that the arrested suspects might be linked to other similar incidents of robberies in the Western Province,” said Kinana.
The men would appear in court soon. — Sapa
