The Independent Communications Authority of South Africa (Icasa) will on Friday publish a review of the country’s national radio frequency plan. The purpose, it says, it is ensure the plan reflects the final acts of the recent World Radio Conference 2012.
Icasa wants to ensure the plan is consistent with the SADC Frequency Allocation Plan. The review will also be carried out parallel with the frequency migration Plan (FMP) process, which is being done to address the frequency migration identified during the evolution of the earlier national radio frequency plans starting with Sabre 1 in 1997 through to the requirements of the World Radio Conference 2012.
In addition, next Monday, 24 December, Icasa says it will publish the second draft frequency migration plan, which has taken into consideration comments made in submissions and public hearings. It also includes the framework for the development of a spectrum assignment plan on the implementation of specific bands earmarked for migration and those identified in the future national radio frequency plan. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
