iStore, the retail chain owned by Apple distributor Core Group, has unveiled the first cash pricing for the new iPhone X smartphone.
Consumers will have to cough up R20 499 for the base model, iStore said in a statement on Friday morning.
“iStore announced that pre-orders of iPhone X are available from today for cash purchases from the starting price of R20 499 to R23 999,” it said. “New cellular contracts and upgrades for iPhone X on Vodacom, MTN, and Telkom will be available at all iStores from the week of 24 November 2017.”
That makes the iPhone X the most expensive new iPhone model to be launched in South Africa.
Apple unveiled the iPhone X — pronounced “ten” — in September at a starting price in the US of $999. The phone has an edge-to-edge screen and, instead of a fingerprint scanner, uses a pricey 3D sensor that recognises faces to unlock the handset. — (c) 2017 NewsCentral Media
