The head of one of South Africa’s biggest technology distributors has been forced to step down following a cycling accident. MB Technologies said on Monday that its CEO, Glenn Fullerton, has resigned.
Fullerton was involved in a serious cycling accident earlier this year and, according to MB Technologies, has been through a period of recuperation in recent months.
However, his recovery has “not been at the pace anticipated”, the company said. “He has therefore reconsidered his position within the group, deciding to focus fully on his recovery and resign from his position as group CEO.”
Fullerton joined then-listed MBT Group in 2000 and held the position until his promotion to group CEO in July 2009. He served on the MB Technologies group board as well as the underlying subsidiary boards as an executive director from 2000.
“Glenn will be missed by his peers and colleagues. He is a highly regarded executive and has run the group with the highest levels of integrity and financial discipline,” said MB Technologies nonexecutive director Richard Tunstall.
Fullterton will assist in the transition to a new CEO until the end of January. Pieter Rorich, a former nonexecutive director of the group, has been named acting CEO while MB Technologies’ board searches for a permanent successor. — (c) 2013 NewsCentral Media
