MTN Business has won a multimillion-rand tender to supply fibre-optic-based communications to beer giant SA Breweries.
The contract, which comes into effect next month, is for the supply of a local- and wide-area network and high-speed connectivity between SAB’s data centres and disaster recovery sites.
MTN Business must also supply an Internet Protocol telephony solution and information security services to SAB.
The contract was previously held jointly by Telkom and Dimension Data.
According to SAB chief information officer Johan Swartz, the company considered a number of bids from Internet service providers for the networking business.
MTN Business was created last year following MTN’s acquisition of Verizon Business, the country’s second-largest corporate-focused Internet service provider.
