JSE-listed retail group JD Group has appointed its group executive for new business development for retail, Marco van Niekerk, as the new CEO of Incredible Connection.
In addition, JD has made various changes and new appointments to Incredible’s executive team.
Van Niekerk joined JD Group at the beginning of the year. He previously worked in the services, wholesale, retail, imports, manufacturing and distribution industries.
Since joining the group, Van Niekerk has been actively involved with its African expansion strategy and will continue managing the new business development portfolio in addition to his new role at Incredible.
Incredible Connection’s previous CEO, Dave Miller, stepped down in January. The company’s financial chief, Stefan Marnewick, has been serving in the position of acting CEO since Miller’s departure.
The company has also appointed a new chief operating officer, David Jacobson, a chartered accountant who has extensive retail experience and has previously served as the chief financial officer of furniture retailer Wetherlys.
Most recently, Jacobson served as MD of the manufacturing business of Coricraft. During his seven year tenure at Coricraft, the company’s store base grew from 13 to 34 stores.
In addition to the appointments, there are a number of changes in portfolios for the Incredible Connection executive team. Marnewick returns to his role as financial director. Sean Nelson is the company’s merchandising executive. Lyndsay MacDougall is now acting marketing executive, with Natalie Smith and Victor Da Silva serving as HR executive and IT executives respectively. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
