NTT Data is close to making an offer to buy Malaysia’s payments firm GHL Systems, according to people familiar with the matter.
NTT Data Group is working with financial advisers on a potential offer for Kuala Lumpur-listed GHL Systems that could be announced as early as Monday, the people said, asking not to be identified because the matter is private.
The Japanese firm may make the offer via one of its subsidiaries, the people said.
Representatives for NTT Data and GHL Systems did not immediately respond to requests seeking comment.
Shares of GHL Systems, a payments services provider in Southeast Asia, have climbed 45% this year, valuing the firm at about US$245-million.
NTT Data, based in Tokyo and part of the telecommunications conglomerate NTT Group, offers IT services including consulting, network development and software. The shares have risen about 21% this year, giving the company a market value of about $21.6-billion. — Elffie Chew, (c) 2024 Bloomberg LP
