Communications minister Roy Padayachie will meet with the leaders of 30 of SA’s largest communications technology companies on Friday in an attempt to find ways government can work with them to create jobs and grow the sector.
The roundtable discussion, which will take place at the Sandton offices of a large auditing company, is meant to create a “long-term vision” for the sector and forge partnerships between the ministry and department of communications and private-sector companies.
According to a statement issued by Padayachie’s office, a key focus of the meeting will be creating a “work programme for job creation”. The CEOs and chairs of the country’s largest technology companies have been invited to participate in the meeting.
TechCentral will cover Friday’s event in detail and bring its readers an audio interview with the minister on the outcome of the meeting. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
