    SABC fills top positions

The SABC has filled six vacancies in its executive management, the public broadcaster said on Thursday.

“It has become imperative for the organisation, as it is steadily becoming financially stable, to complement this with individuals who will bring immense value as we take the SABC forward,” spokesman Kaizer Kganyago said.

Sipho Masinga was appointed group executive for technology and Itani Tseisi executive for risk and governance. Jabulani Mabaso would head human capital services and Madoda Shushu would lead procurement.

Zwelibanzi Mthembu was appointed head of strategy and Iris Francis CEO of the SABC Foundation.

SABC CEO Lulama Mokhobo said: “These appointments of skilled people will help the organisation deliver on its set objectives and make sure there is stability at the SABC as we implement our three-year corporate plan effectively, which is crucial in us fulfilling our public service mandate.”

Kganyago said some of the positions had been vacant “for some time” while others became free when those who occupied them were suspended.

Only three senior positions were still vacant — chief operating officer, chief financial officer, and head of news.

In April, President Jacob Zuma approved the interim board, which was installed after the resignations of most of its members in March, and its eventual dissolution by parliament.

Their departures came after a reported clash between previous chairman Ben Ngubane and the board over the tenure of previous acting chief operating officer Hlaudi Motsoeneng.  — Sapa
