The Democratic Alliance won its high court application on Friday to have the appointment of SABC boss Hlaudi Motsoeneng declared unlawful and irrational.
The Western Cape high court’s Judge Dennis Davis handed down the judgment in a few minutes.
“We won,” said DA lawyer Anton Katz outside the court.
Last month, the political party filed papers against Motsoeneng, the SABC, its board and board chair, seeking to have them be found in contempt of court for not suspending Motsoeneng as per a Western Cape high court order a year ago.
News24 previously reported that the supreme court of appeal recently upheld a Western Cape high court order by Judge Ashton Schippers that Motsoeneng be suspended for 60 days while a disciplinary hearing into his alleged malfeasance was conducted. — News24
