Suspended Universal Service & Access Agency of SA (Usaasa) executive manager for business development services Molefi Mollo has tendered his resigation following what the agency calls “months of interrogation around his suspension”.
Mollo was one of four Usaasa executives managers and two senior managers who were suspended as part of a forensic and disciplinary process. He was suspended in September 2011 along with his colleagues Andrew Hlubi (chief financial officer) and Archie Mbatha (senior manager for supply chain management).
The three suspensions were followed by the suspensions of then CEO, Phineas Moleele, executive manager for performance management Thandeka Mngadi and senior manager for technology Thato Matsepe.
Mollo is the second of the suspended to tender his resignation, Usaasa says.
Usaasa executive caretaker Themba Phiri says it is “regrettable that Mollo resigns before the conclusion of the disciplinary process”.
“I have however decided to accept his resignation.”
Usaasa is a state-owned entity established through the Electronic Communications Act that is meant to direct funds at projects that will take connectivity to underserviced parts of the country. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
