Telkom will not comment at this stage on the publication by the Independent Communications Authority of SA (Icasa) on Wednesday of a discussion document on how the authority plans to proceed with local-loop unbundling.
Unbundling, which will give rival operators access to Telkom’s “last mile” of copper-cable infrastructure into homes and businesses, is meant to happen by no later than November 2011.
Telkom says in a statement that it has “not yet had the opportunity to review of the content of Icasa’s paper on local-loop unbundling”.
“The company is in the process of examining the document and will comment on the matter at a later stage.” — Staff reporter, TechCentral
