Nedbank has launched a “lite” version of its smartphone banking application. Called Money App Lite, it’s a streamlined version for Android devices.
The bank said it developed the app, which has a smaller footprint and uses less data, to cater for those with limited data plans or on-device memory. The app is a 1.8MB download.
In a statement, Stelios Vakis, digital executive for Nedbank Retail and Business Banking, said Money App Lite is less data intensive as it is smaller to download and it doesn’t need to be updated as often. Also, a smaller installation means it uses less space on mobile phones.
The app can also be downloaded directly from the Nedbank website by clients that don’t have access to the Google Play store. It uses “very little” battery, too.
“It has many of the essential features of the full app but is simple enough to work well on all types of smartphones,” the bank said.
It includes the same security features found in the more powerful version, including secondary authentication during registration, Sim-swap protection and fraud reporting. — (c) 2019 NewsCentral Media
