TechCentral is looking for a technology journalist to join its editorial team based in Johannesburg.
The seniority of the position and remuneration package will be determined based on experience.
The publication, which has quickly established itself as a leading online source of news and analysis of SA’s information technology and telecommunications industry, is looking for a graduate, preferably with at least a few years of experience, who is able to produce clean, concise and accurate copy under often-tight time pressures.
TechCentral is able to offer pleasant working conditions, based at its office in Randburg in Johannesburg, and the opportunity for the right candidate to grow their journalism career.
Applicants must possess an understanding of technology and telecommunications. Photographic, podcasting and Web skills are considered a distinct advantage. Computer literacy is a prerequisite.
The position entails covering the technology sector broadly — attending press conferences, interviewing senior industry figures, writing news, analysis and opinion pieces, producing personality profile articles and reviewing technology.
The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, able to generate his or her own news leads and story ideas. An understanding of the pressures associated with online publishing, including the requirement to get the story first, is essential.
Interested? Please e-mail your contact details, your curriculum vitae and three examples of unedited work you have produced to TechCentral editor Duncan McLeod before 9am on Tuesday, 26 April. If we have not contacted you by the end of April, please assume your application was not successful.
All applications will be treated in the strictest confidence. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
