Telkom has denied an allegation made by a labour union on Monday that it intends laying off up to 10 000 employees.
The Solidarity trade union said in a statement that it has learnt that Telkom plans to begin a comprehensive restructuring process soon.
Solidarity alleged that Telkom intends taking an axe to its field force division — made up technical, on-the-ground staff.
The union claimed that up to 10 000 employees could be affected by the process.
But Telkom said that its field force division is not affected by current discussions the company is having with organised labour. — (c) 2015 NewsCentral Media
