Eskom claimed on Monday that it had successfully conducted maintenance and added a further 1,5GW of generating capacity back into the national grid.
A statement released on Monday quoted Eskom’s acting CEO officer Brian Molefe as saying: “Eskom’s maintenance teams worked hard over the long-weekend and were able to perform planned maintenance on 2 303MW of generating plant. They further also returned 1 453MW of generating capacity back to service over this period.”
The statement did not say from where the additional supply had come or where exactly the maintenance had been carried out.
However, despite the maintenance work carried out, the network remains “constrained”.
Molefe thanked people for saving electricity, but urged consumers to continue doing so. — News24
