The number of liquidations in the first nine months of 2009 increased 25,9% compared with the first nine months of 2008, Statistics SA said on Monday.
The increase was due to rises of 25,9% in voluntary liquidations and 25,6% in compulsory liquidations. When comparing the first nine months of 2009 with the first nine months of last year, there were increases of 27,4% in company liquidations and 24,6% in close corporation
liquidations.
The total number of liquidations recorded for September 2009 increased 1,8% compared with September 2008. The total number of insolvencies recorded for the first eight months of 2009 decreased 9,7% compared with the first eight months of 2008.
