A fortnight after rival MTN announced it was cutting its prepaid rates to 79c/minute, Cell C has introduced four new prepaid vouchers — on a promotional basis only — to its product line-up.
To be launched on 1 May and available until 31 July, the new Supacharge vouchers give consumers “free” rand value and flexibility in choosing how they spend bonus airtime they receive.
Cell C launched the Supacharge products in February 2013. They give prepaid and top-up customers free on-network calls and SMSes as well as data. Those who spend R25, for example, get 25 on-network minutes, 25 on-net SMSes and 25MB of data. Those spending R500 or more get unlimited Cell C to Cell C calls plus 1GB of data and 1 000 on-network SMSes.
“Customers have been asking for more flexible prepaid vouchers that will allow them to spend their bonus value in the way that they choose,” Cell C acting CEO Jose Dos Santos said in a statement. “The introduction of these four new vouchers fills that gap.”

The new vouchers come in denominations of R20, R30, R60 and R120 each, with double the bonus rand value that can be used for Cell C to Cell C calls and SMSes, as well as data. “For example, a customer that recharges with R20 will receive R20 airtime plus R40 bonus airtime to use as he or she pleases.” — (c) 2014 NewsCentral Media
