Cell C has renegotiated its roaming agreement with Vodacom, extending its access to the latter’s 3G network.
“This agreement allows Cell C to provide a seamless experience to our customers, even those in outlying areas where we have limited coverage,” said Cell C CEO Jose Dos Santos in a statement.
“Cell C customers in those areas will now also have access to Internet technologies on Vodacom’s 3G network.
The newly negotiated agreement with Vodacom will not affect Cell C’s planned investment in its 4G/LTE network, Dos Santos said. The company intends switching on its LTE network later this year. It says it will spend R8bn in the next three years rolling out this network.
The new roaming agreement with Vodacom is effective 1 June 2015. Switch-on is expected to be completed within the next few weeks, Dos Santos said.
Timelines and areas where 3G roaming will be switched on will be available on Cell C’s website later this week, he added. — © 2015 NewsCentral Media
