Retailer Checkers has launched Sixty60, a new e-commerce app offering free grocery deliveries to consumers within 60 minutes of purchase.
The service, which has been launched in beta, is limited to parts of Johannesburg and Cape Town while the company pilots it ahead of a broader roll-out.
“The mobile app delivers groceries and drinks at the touch of a button and offers the same value for money for which Checkers is renowned,” the retailer said in a statement on Monday. “Users can track the status of their order and delivery in real time,” it added.
“Sixty60 will offer unrivalled convenience because it does all the hard work for you,” said Neil Schreuder, chief of innovation & strategy at Shoprite Checkers, in the statement.
The app has been in testing internally for several months and is now being piloted to the public in select parts of Cape Town and Sandton.
The app has been in testing with Checkers employees for several months.

Sixty60 is now available to the public in Checkers supermarkets in the Western Cape, including Durbanville, Willowbridge, Okavango Crossing, Rondebosch, Kloof Street and Sea Point, and in Gauteng, in Melrose and Bryanston.
Delivery is free during the pilot period.
