The Competition Commission has appointed Nompucuko Nontombana as divisional manager of enforcement and exemptions. She takes over from Junior Khumalo, who has resigned and taken up a role at communications regulator Icasa.
Nontombana has more than eight years of competition policy experience having joined the commission in 2007. She was a pincipal investigator in the enforcement division for four years before joining the mergers and acquisitions division in 2011, leading the investigation of key cases in various sectors of the economy in both divisions, the commission said in a statement.
Prior to joining the commission, she worked in government in various capacities at the department of public enterprises and as an economist at the department of education.
Nontombana holds an honours degree in economics from the University of Cape Town and an MPhil (economic policy) from the University of Stellenbosch. She is completing her studies towards an MBL with Unisa’s Graduate School of Business Leadership. — © 2015 NewsCentral Media
