Telkom is adding the DStv Now app to its LIT TVB-100 Android-powered set-top box, DStv parent MultiChoice said in an e-mailed statement on Tuesday.
The telecommunications operator’s LIT video offering provides zero-rated data for access to video and music services from selected content partners. Other partners include Google, Apple and Showmax.
MultiChoice said it has developed the first version of the DStv Now application for large-screen viewing, which allows existing DStv customers to watch live channels and the Catch Up video-on-demand service, streamed via the Telkom LIT hardware, at no data cost to them.
“Existing Telkom LIT customers will automatically receive the DStv Now app as an update to their Telkom LIT TV box,” the broadcaster said. “The content will be specific to DStv Premium, Compact Plus or Compact packages. Customers need to have a valid DStv subscription and need to register on DStv to use the DStv Now app.”
“We are working with MultiChoice on future initiatives and believe that our partnership will be hugely beneficial for all our customers,” said Telkom Consumer CEO Attila Vitai in the statement.
“From the 25 November, Telkom will be further extending its current LIT Music and Video offering to beyond that of the FreeMe packages to cater for the broader Telkom Mobile market.” — (c) 2017 NewsCentral Media
