MTN South Africa CEO Ahmad Farroukh announced his intention to resign last month over his inability to end protracted strike action at the company, but this was not “officially accepted”.
This is according to a report in the Sunday Times, which suggested that the mobile operator could soon be without a CEO.
Farroukh, who is a former CEO of MTN in Nigeria, and who filled a similar role in Ghana for the group, was appointed as head of the South African business 11 months ago.
Strike action, led by the Communication Workers Union, has been dragging on since 20 May. Strikers have at times been accused by MTN management of violence and intimidation. — © 2015 NewsCentral Media
