First National Bank was offline on Monday morning, frustrating consumers who took to social media networks, including Twitter, to vent their frustration.
It appears the problem is networking related, as FNB employees have also reported not being able to get online or send and receive e-mail.
An FNB spokesman has confirmed the downtime. In a holding statement, the bank’s chief information officer, Mo Hassem, said it is “aware of intermittent connectivity on its network”
“Our teams are working hard to rectify this,” Hassem said. “We advise clients to make use of FNB’s branch and ATM channels to conduct banking.”
The bank apologised to clients for the downtime.
It appears connectivity was lost shortly after 8am on Monday.
