Nokia’s flagship Windows Phone device, the Lumia 900, as well as its lower-end Lumia 610 should be available in SA by the end of this month. The Lumia 900 is Nokia’s top Windows Phone-powered device and the 610 is positioned as the most affordable device in the range. The two new additions join the existing SA Lumia line-up that currently includes the 800 and 710.
MTN will be the first SA operator to offer the Lumia 900 and it is expected to be available in MTN stores on 28 June. MTN will also begin carrying the Lumia 610 at the same time, along with the 710.
Due to a tie-in between Nokia and Warner Bros, and in anticipation of the forthcoming film The Dark Knight Rises, consumers will also be able to buy limited-edition Lumia 900 smartphones engraved with the Batman logo.
The Lumia 900 was unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas in January. The handset features a 4,3-inch Amoled display and its primary camera features optics by German lens manufacturer Carl Zeiss. It is also the first Lumia device to include a front-facing camera.
The Lumia 610 is Nokia’s fourth and cheapest Lumia smartphone. It is aimed at the youth market and features large-scale social media integration. It will be available in a range of colours including white, cyan, magenta and black.
Pricing information is expected later this month. — (c) 2012 NewsCentral Media
