The South African Post Office’s board resigned on Friday. The announcement was made by telecommunications and postal services minister Siyabonga Cwele during a media briefing at Post Office headquarters in Centurion, Pretoria.
Post Office workers have been on strike for four months, calling for casual worked to be permanently employed.
Eyewitness News reported that Cwele said the Post Office’s problems had been there for a long time and were not started by the board. Cwele’s department would work on stabilising the state entity, it reported.
He called for the Post Office to enforce the no work, no pay principle, which he claimed had not been enforced across the board. — Sapa
