Research in Motion (Rim), manufacturer of the BlackBerry range of smartphones, has launched its App World store in SA, the company said in a statement on Wednesday.
App World is Rim’s equivalent of the iTunes Store operated by Apple.
Rim says the on-device application store brings together a “broad mix of free personal and business applications for SA customers”.
BlackBerry App World is designed automatically to present the relevant catalog of applications available for a user’s specific BlackBerry smartphone model and it can be accessed over Wi-Fi and cellular networks.
The software is available for BlackBerry smartphones that include a trackball, touch-sensitive trackpad or touch-screen running BlackBerry OS version 4.2 or higher. Users require an active BlackBerry service plan. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
