Communications department director-general Rosey Sekese remains on special leave, the department said on Friday.
“The matter is being handled internally. Deputy director-general Gift Buthelezi has been asked to continue acting as director general of the department,” spokesman Siya Qoza said.
Sekese was placed on special leave in January.
At the time, Qoza declined to give reasons.
In January, Democratic Alliance MP Marian Shinn said Sekese was put on special leave because she had misled the portfolio committee about her performance contract last year.
Shinn said the department had been “dysfunctional” for decades and the forever-changing leadership hampered its ability to focus on the country’s key communications issues. — Sapa
