Telkom Business has unveiled its first uncapped fixed-line broadband products targeted at small and medium enterprises, with data-only options starting at R595/month for 384kbit/s lines, up to R4 224/month for 10Mbit/s service.
A 1Mbit/s uncapped offering costs R1 275/month and a 4Mbit/s option goes for R2 359. The company is also offering discounts if companies subscribe to a combination of services through what it calls a “broadband package builder”.
On a recent roadshow, Telkom informed its business customers about its plans to introduce the products, which are available with immediate effect. They also include new, lower-cost capped offerings.
Competition in the Internet service provider market has intensified dramatically in the past 18 months, prompting dramatic price reductions for broadband data and the widespread adoption of uncapped services.
Telkom Business MD Brian Armstrong says the introduction of the products is part of the company’s strategy to be a leader in fixed-mobile convergence and in cloud computing services and comes months ahead of the planned launch of new cloud-based products early next year.
The products are “shaped” in favour of business applications and an acceptable-use policy applies.
“Broadband is a very important component of the journey,” Armstrong says. “It’s a necessary component of delivering good cloud services [and] is important in fixed-mobile convergence.”
He hints that Telkom will soon introduce data bundles that business customers will be able to use across both mobile and fixed lines.
Customers signing a two-year contract with Telkom will receive an ADSL modem with 3G failover support and integrated Wi-Fi router. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
