Internet Solutions (IS) MD Angus MacRobert, pictured, has stepped down for “personal reasons”. He is replaced by Derek Wilcocks, a long-time Dimension Data executive. IS is a division of Didata.
Speaking to TechCentral on Thursday, MacRobert said that after eight years at IS, he needed a change. “I need to focus and unwind and destress a bit,” he said.
MacRobert said he had nothing lined up. “I’ve had a wonderful time at IS and I’m really sad to leave, but it’s time to take a break.”
He said he’ll make a decision about his future in the “next few months”.
Wilcocks, his successor, is no stranger to the IS business. A key figure in steering Didata’s Middle East & African business through the 2002/03 technology sector downturn, Wilcocks is credited with developing the group’s growth strategy. He was appointed as services executive for the Middle East & Africa region in 2006.
Wilcocks began his career with Didata in 1995, as founding MD of IS subsidiary, Trusted Network Solutions. He joined IS a year later, becoming a board member and holding a number of executive positions during his six years with the company, including the post of MD from 1998 to 2001. — Duncan McLeod, TechCentral
