SA big four bank Absa says its website downtime between 10pm and 12:30 am on Thursday night was scheduled.
Customers that tried to log on last night were met with the default installation page for IBM WebSphere, the software than powers Absa’s online service.
Absa spokesman John Dludlu says the company took down the site during the time for scheduled maintenance.
“In support of increasing customer demand and use of Absa’s digital channels, routine scheduled maintenance and server upgrade work was undertaken,” he says.
He says the work was planned at the time when usage is traditionally low and would have a minimal impact on customers. — Staff reporter, TechCentral
