There has been an armed robbery at a Vodacom store in the upmarket Hyde Park Corner shopping centre in northern Johannesburg, according to a news report.
Eyewitness News quotes witnesses, including radio personality Jenny Cryws Williams, who was having lunch in the centre, say that four armed robbers targeted the Vodacom cellphone shop on Thursday afternoon.
At least two shots have been fired, according to the report, but a Vodacom spokesman says he can confirm that no one has been injured.
Cellphones worth R1,5m were stolen from the store, according to the police.
Four armed men entered the store around 2.30pm and held staff at gunpoint, according to a police spokesman.
No arrests had been made.
ER24 spokesman Russel Meiring said a woman was treated for shock.
The robbery is the latest in a string of attacks on hi-tech stories that started in 2014. — (c) 2015 NewsCentral Media, with Sapa
