UK-based backup solutions service provider Redstor has acquired South African company Attix5 for an undisclosed sum.
The acquisition is effective 14 September.
Attix5 is a specialist provider of data protection software and cloud solutions.
The deal was perhaps inevitable given that Redstor, founded in 1998, has been a close partner of Attix5’s since 2005, utilising the South African firm’s underlying technology for its portfolio of backup services in the UK.
With a development office in Stellenbosch and sales and support offices in Johannesburg and Reading in the UK, Attix5, founded in 1999, has developed its intellectual property based on the input of cloud backup providers such as Redstor, the companies said in a statement.
“Over the 10-year partnership, both parties have come to understand each other’s business and have developed strong relationships,” said Attix5 founder Danie Marais.
Redstor CEO Paul Evans said the acquisition gives his company access to its own intellectual property and allows it to expand its geographic footprint. — © 2015 NewsCentral Media
